Astroviruses can cause diarrhea in young animals, including mammals and birds. The mammalian genus is divided into human astrovirus, cat astrovirus, pig astrovirus, sheep astrovirus and mink astrovirus according to the different host. Avian astroviruses include Turkey astrovirus and bird nephritis virus.
